Alınan bilgiye göre kaza, akşam saatlerinde Kahta Çayı Köprüsü yakınlarında meydana geldi. Edinilen bilgiye göre Diyarbakır istikametinden Kahta istikametine gelmekte olan Mahmut Orman (70) yönetimindeki 34 BAY 262 plakalı otomobil ile Hasan Kömür yönetimindeki 63 YY 734 plakalı otomobil Kahta Çayı Köprüsü yakınlarında çarpıştı. Çarpışma sonrası meydana gelen kazada Hasan Kömür, Fadile Kömür, Fatma Kömür ve Gülizar Orman hayatlarını kaybederken, kaza sonrası Mahmut Orman, Cemal Orman, Rukiye Orman, Emine Özdemir, Mehmet Emin Özdemir ve Delal Ecrin Özdemir ise yaralandı. Kazayı görenlerin ihbar üzerine olay yerine sağlık ekipleri ile itfaiye ekipleri sevk edildi. Yaralılar, olay yerinden yapılan ilk müdahalenin ardından Kahta Devlet Hastanesi’ne kaldırıldı. Kazada yaşamını yitirenler ise Kahta Devlet Hastanesi Morgu’na kaldırıldı.
